AZAAN
The Call Towards SALAAT

AZAAN is SUNNAH only for the five FARZ Salaat and for JUMU'AH Salaat.
AZAAN is not required for any other Salaat.
AZAAN means to inform, but in SHARI'AH, AZAAN means to inform about the Salaat in particular wordings.
AZAAN must be called a little before the time of every FARZ Salaat.
If it was called before the time, then it must be called again at the right time.
How to say AZAAN
When the time of Salaat comes the MU'AZZIN stands up a little before Salaat and calls out ALOUD these words;
Allah is the greatest of all
Allah is the greatest of all
Allah is the greatest of all
Allah is the greatest of all
I testify that there is none worthy of worship but Allah.
I testify that there is none worthy of worship but Allah.
I testify that Muhammad (r) is Allah’s Messenger
I testify that Muhammad (r) is Allah’s Messenger
Come for SALAAH
Come for SALAAH
Come for Success
Come for Success
Allah is the greatest of all
Allah is the greatest of all
There is none worthy of worship but Allah.
Note:

2. Turn the FACE left when saying:
حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلاَحِ
1. Turn the FACE right when saying:
حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلوةِ
In the AZAAN of FAJR after "Haiyya 'alal-falaah", say TWICE:
اَلصَّلوةُ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ النَّوْمِ
Salaat is better than sleep
Salaat is better than sleep
DUA AFTER AZAAN
"O Allah! Lord of this perfect Call and of the Salaat about to be established, bestow upon Muhammad (r) the Waseelah (means), Grace and the lofty rank. Establish him on MAQAAM MAHMOOD which You have promised him. Verily, You do not go against the Promise."
There are Seven MUSTAHABS in AZAAN:
1. To stand facing the QIBLAH.
2. Not to make haste in saying AZAAN.
3. To put both index fingers in the ears.
4. To call AZAAN from a high place.
5. To say AZAAN in a loud voice.
6. To turn the face right when saying حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلوةِ and to the left when saying حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلاَحِ.
7. To say اَلصَّلوةُ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ النَّوْمِ after حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلاَحِ in the AZAAN for FAJR Salaah.
Saying AZAAN without Wudhu is allowed but it is bad to make a habit of it.
AZAAN is SUNNAH, but as it reveals a special glory of Islam, much stress is laid on it.
IQAAMAT
Q: What is IQAAMAT?
A: IQAAMAT is to repeat the wordings of AZAAN at the beginning of FARZ Salaat
But in IQAAMAT after.
Say TWICE:
The (JAMAA'AH) prayer is ready
The (JAMAA'AH) prayer is ready
Saying IQAAMAT without Wudhu is MAKROOH.
AZAAN and IQAAMAT is SUNNAH for men only.
IQAAMAT is SUNNAH for FARZ Salaat only. But for other Salaat it is not required.
Q: If any one says his FARZ prayers at home, should he say AZAAN and IQAAMAT also?
A: AZAAN and IQAAMAT in the neighbouring mosque will be enough, but it is better to say them at home also.
Q: Should a traveler say AZAAN and IQAAMAT during a journey?
A: Yes: both AZAAN and IQAAMAT should be said when one is at a lonely place. It won't matter if one says only IQAAMAT and not AZAAN but it is MAKROOH to leave the both.
Q: Is it allowed if one person says AZAAN and another says IQAAMAT?
A: If one who said AZAAN is not present mind, then another person may say IQAAMAT. If the person who said AZAAN minds, then it is MAKROOH for the other person to say IQAAMAT.
Q: How much time should be allowed to pass to say IQAAMAT after AZAAN?
A: In all prayers except MAGHRIB one should wait for IQAAMAT till the persons who are eating or are In the toilet finish up and can join the prayers. In MAGHRIB Salaat it is advisable that after AZAAN, IQAAMAT should be said after the lapse of the time equal to the reciting of three Aayaat only.
IJAABAT
Repeating the words of AZAAN and IQAAMAT is called IJAABAT.
Q: What is IJAABAT for AZAAN and IQAAMAT and what is the order for that?
A: IJAABAT for both AZAAN and IQAAMAT is Mustahab. IJAABAT means that the hearers should repeat the wordings as the MU'AZZIN or MUKABBIR says. But after hearing:

One should say:
"There is no power and might except from Allah, the Most High, the Great."
In FAJR AZAAN after hearing: اَلصَّلوةُ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ النَّوْمِ, one should say:
صَدَقْتَ وَبَرَرْتَ
You have spoken the truth and you have done good.
In IQAAMAT, after hearing: قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلوةُ, one should say:
اَقَامَهَا اللهُ وَاَدَامَهَا
May Allah establish it and keep it forever.
